Tests, follow-up and asking for help — Kazakh, B1

Clarify a referral, preparation, results and follow-up; separately practise asking clearly for urgent help. Daulet is the patient; Aigul is the doctor.

How the language works

Taldauğa qalai daiyndaluym kerek? means “How should I prepare for the test?”: qalai asks how to do something; daiyndalu + -ym identifies whose action is discussed, and kerek expresses necessity. Daiyndalu means to prepare yourself; daiyndau means to prepare something. Daiyn bolady means “will be ready”; daiyn means “ready”. Asking about preparation does not supply the instructions: obtain those from a healthcare professional. Urgent-help phrases are practised as a separate situation, not as the next step in an ordinary follow-up visit.

Check your understanding

Choose an answer before opening the explanation. Then explain your choice.

1. How do you check that you understood the order of the next steps?

  1. Jedel järdem şaqyryñyzşy.
  2. Nätijelerdı qaidan alamyn?
  3. Nätijelerı qaşan daiyn bolady?
  4. Dūrys tüsındım be: aldymen taldau tapsyramyn, sodan keiın sızge kelemın?
Answer and explanation

Dūrys tüsındım be: aldymen taldau tapsyramyn, sodan keiın sızge kelemın?

Dūrys tüsındım be? checks understanding. Aldymen means “first”; sodan keiın means “after that”. You restate the plan so the doctor can confirm or correct it.

2. You want to know when the results will be ready. Which question fits?

  1. Nätijelerı qaşan daiyn bolady?
  2. Nätijelerdı qaidan alamyn?
  3. Mağan joldama kerek pe?
  4. Taldauğa qalai daiyndaluym kerek?
Answer and explanation

Nätijelerı qaşan daiyn bolady?

Qaşan asks about time. Qaidan asks where to get the results; it is a different question.

3. Separate language scenario: someone asks for an ambulance. Choose that specific request.

  1. Mağan joldama kerek pe?
  2. Jedel järdem şaqyryñyzşy.
  3. Qaita qabyldauğa qaşan keluım kerek?
  4. Nätijelerdı qaidan alamyn?
Answer and explanation

Jedel järdem şaqyryñyzşy.

Jedel järdem means “ambulance / emergency medical service”; şaqyryñyzşy asks someone to call it. This tests the meaning of the phrase, not a person’s medical condition.

Make it your own

Clarify three details after a consultation: preparation for the test, when results will be ready and the next visit. Then restate the order of the steps.

  • Ask about preparation and results.
  • Clarify the follow-up visit.
  • Restate the order to check understanding.
